ARMENIA
Armenia is a Colombian municipality, capital of the department of Quindío and one of the main centers of the Colombian coffee axis and of the Region Paisa. The city is located at the coordinates 4,5170 ° north latitude, 75.6830 ° west, 290 kilometers west of Bogota. It is a medium sized city located in the Golden Triangle. Its average temperature is between 18-28 ° C, and it is the nucleus of the Metropolitan Area of Armenia.
HISTORY
More than 10,000 years ago there was a civilization called Quimbaya, mainly located in the area where the city of Armenia is currently located. Its goldsmith production is highlighted, from which different sculptures have been found that have allowed to study the form and the ancestral practices of the chimbaya.
They took advantage of the fertile lands to devote themselves to agriculture and mining, especially as well as to hunting animals. This civilization ended after the arrival of the Spaniards, but they left a great legacy of oral history, among which there are stories like the one of Cacique Calarcá and histories of supernatural phenomena, among others.
